Many women are concerned about bleeding or spotting and its effect on pregnancy. Let’s talk about the possible causes of mid-cycle bleeding.
3 possible causes of mid-cycle spotting:
1. Ovulation bleeding
Your egg is released from your ovary. This can cause spotting and some lower uterine cramping or discomfort. It should not cause severe pain or severe bleeding. *Ovulation bleeding only happens in a small number of women.
2. Implantation bleeding
This usually occurs 3 – 7 days after ovulation. The fertilized egg (your baby) starts to burrow itself into the uterine wall thus creating a healthy environment for development and growth.
3. Early menstrual bleed
Even if you have had “regular” cycles your entire life, you can sometimes bleed early. For example, if you have 28-day cycles, you could start bleeding on day 25. This simply means your cycle came early.
